Can we talk about how cool Calico Corn is? Also if I make Thanksgiving cards this year would anyone buy them? I think I'm gonna.
Whatcha reading? • I'm *finally* reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver 📚
A picture tells a thousand words, some of which here would be:
- this dog hates me almost as much as this rain jacket I insisted on buying her
- yeah, we are still using camping chairs in the living room because we are at the end of our home reno budget
- our heating register covers don't fit after we got our floors done so they're just lying in wait for unsuspecting people to stub their toes on
GIRLS' WEEKEND 👯 On this very non-touristy excursion I only lost my hat once, did the whole way back desperately clutching an iced coffee from The Butcher's Daughter, and laughed a whole lot with these two- like they've been making me do for 17 years. • I got Laura a very apt birthday card that says "you being born has worked out pretty well for me" and it couldn't be more true- thanks for encouraging me to go Kappa, and next, leading me east to NYC. Lu, you're a life changer and I'm glad you were born (and that we get to celebrate you in the sunshine this weekend because it is SO cold back at my house).
There's a to-do list looming over this unfinished kitchen so it's still #notquiteprimrose over here- but I'm feeling very grateful that it's finally functional for the first time since June and that this rosemary grew in our yard. • We've hosted four separate rounds of (lovely, wonderful, easygoing) guests since Labor Day weekend and it's been stressful for me to let go of the fact that our heat can't turn on and that we only have one operative shower and that our baseboards still aren't in and I don't have a linen closet yet. But when people come to visit they just want coffee in the morning and then, your company. Simple as that. •
I rarely get time these days to mess around with my paints and just play, so I was really excited when @meghanscraftkits asked me to contribute something to their first crafting workshop. I let myself relax and this is what came out! • The proceeds from the workshop went to create craft kits for foster families- what a beautiful way to encourage bonding in a home and allow the kids a healthy outlet to express themselves. • Every participant at the workshop took home one of these prints but I have a few left. DM me to purchase, and if you're looking for a way to share some creative time with your kiddos go buy a kit from Meghan! ✂️🖍
Why do these stupid little flavorless gourds make us all so happy?! Dunno but I bought like nine of them and have already strewn them about my home willy nilly. Happy October!
Let's quit some shit. ✌🏼
Would like to be honest and foist upon you some unsolicited advice today 👉🏼This is my #MCMD (Man Crush Most Days)- but *some* days during this remodel we have wanted to lock ourselves away from each other in separate sensory deprivation tanks and let the dog make all the renovation decisions and other times I just want to get in the car and drive to Mexico by myself and other times I think he gets real suspicious when I listen to all my murder podcasts... This is just a PSA to everyone that it is NOT frivolous to take vacations together to set the reset button. 🚨Even a weekday or two off emails and away from stress is a powerful magical thing (also so is wearing formal wear and not... whatever sweatsuit combination it is I cobble together to get slobbered on at the dog park and then work in, all day). Relationships take deliberate effort and work. 🛠 • The last part of this important message is that you should always make your maid of honor wear a dress that you love so that you, too, can wear it to a wedding someday when you ask her to borrow it. 💃🏻
